Susann Auer Dr. Auer is a postdoc researcher working on plant pathogen interactions at TU Dresden. At this year's retreat she will touch upon an initiative - Repro4everyone. She came across the initiative due to her work as an Elife ambassador and joined the team in 2019. The global Repro4everyone project aims to produce resources to increase researchers’ awareness of reproducible research. Furthermore, they offer workshops to introduce reproducibility tools and good scientific practice, to equip a wide range of people with the ability to conduct reproducible research. Dr. Auer's motivation to join the team came from an increasing awareness that many scientists are not able to reproduce their own findings as well as the results from studies of other scientists. She wishes to enforce good record keeping and version control, bringing about the change in both students and PIs.
Jana Christopher
Image integrity analyst Jana Christopher runs her own company, which was founded at the end of 2015 and is based in Heidelberg. Prior to this, she was working as an editorial assistant for a medical journal at Springer, and later joined EMBO in 2005. In 2011, she then started the Image Integrity programme for EMBO Press for its four journals: The EMBO Journal, EMBO reports, EMBO Molecular Medicine, and Molecular Systems Biology. This programme was very successful and received much recognition in the scientific press
Jana Naue
Dr. Naue studied Molecular Medicine and did her PhD thesis on 'The Mitochondrial Genome in forensic genetics: Microfluidic devices for animal group identification and point heteroplasmy in the Human mtDNA'. Her thesis included the analysis of non-human DNA in case work using a microfluidic platform, at the laboratory of Forensic Molecular Biology at the Institute for Legal Medicine in Freiburg. She continued to do a PostDoc at the Swammerdam Institute for Life Sciences at the University of Amsterdam. Currently, she works in the field of forensic genetics at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Freiburg as a PostDoc. There, she is involved in DNA methylation-based age estimation. At this year's retreat she will give us a glimpse into forensic genetics in general as well as into the research performed in her field.
